This page is a brief summary of the requirements for tournament organizers to host a sanctioned USA Fencing tournament. Please note that this is not an authoritative document and is made as a courtesy to the division. Official USA Fencing documentation and regulations are the only documents that should be relied upon.
All USA Fencing sanctioned tournaments must adhere to:
- All competing fencers are competitive members of USA Fencing with a valid, up-to-date membership as of the date of the tournament
- Age, gender, and rating restrictions must be applied as appropriate for fencers
- For divisional, regional and national competitions, only US citizens and permanent residents may fence
- All referees must be professional, competitive members of USA Fencing with a valid, up-to-date membership as of the date of the tournament (minors who are refereeing are exempt)
- All referees must have passed their background check prior to the start of the tournament (minors who are refereeing are exempt)
- All referees must have completed their SafeSport training prior to the start of the tournament (minors who are refereeing are exempt)
